Short Hair
A personal favorite, the doughnut bun maker is ideal for girls with short hair. Simply sweep your hair into a ponytail at the desired height and slip the doughnut over it as you would with an elastic. Tilt your head forward to allow the ponytail strands to fall around the doughnut. Position the hair so that the doughnut is covered completely before stretching an elastic over the entire doughnut, securing the strands around it. Finally, wrap the loose ends around the bun, securing with hairgrips to cover the elastic.

Best part about using this product? If you have shorter hair like me, a traditional bun can look a bit flat and pathetic. The doughnut however adds almost Rapunzel-like volume to your bun, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of long hair without the fuss.

Medium Length Hair
The metal and foam large bun maker is easy to use and gives medium length hair a bit of structure in the bun making process. After sweeping your hair into a ponytail at the desired height, secure it with a band and pull it through the centre of the bun maker. Holding each end of the bun maker, pull it down the ponytail to approximately an inch from the end. Roll the bun maker towards your head until you cannot roll any further. Bend the ends of the bun maker together, creating a circular shape and gently move your hair around the uncovered ends to complete the bun.

Best part about this product? No hair grips necessary!

Long Hair
While long hair is coveted by many, it’s also a nightmare to style into an updo. With lengths of heavy locks you’ll go through a whole pack of hairgrips before it’s all safe and secure. The hair twist tool unlike the previous two products is very thin, meaning it won’t add any extra heft to your already voluminous tresses. After sweeping your hair into a ponytail at the desired height, secure it with a band and pull it through the centre of the hair twist with the smooth side facing inward and the ‘comb’ side outward. Holding each end of the twist, pull it down the ponytail to approximately an inch from the end. Roll the twist towards your head until you cannot roll any further. When all the hair is firmly in place, simply bend the twist and link the hooks underneath to form a perfect bun.

Best part about this product? The hair twist is a lightweight solution for even the thickest hair!

Products are avaible at most local supermarkets, pharmacists as well as online retailers. I recommend eBay for the widest selection.
